
HOUSTON, Texas – A Houston man is facing a murder charge after police say he fatally stabbed his 71-year-old mother inside their Southwest Houston home early Wednesday morning.
The Victim and the Call
The victim has been identified as Alta Veasley. The suspect is her son, 34-year-old Gerren Crosson.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers were called to a residence on Harristown Drive at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, following reports of a stabbing.
Mother Identifies Son Before Dying
When officers arrived, they found Veasley suffering from multiple stab wounds. Authorities said she was conscious at the scene and told responding officers that her son had stabbed her.
Veasley was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.
Suspect Charged and Held on $750K Bond
Police located Gerren Crosson inside the home and detained him. After further investigation and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Crosson was formally charged with murder.
Court records show that Crosson remains in the Harris County Jail. His bond has been set at $750,000.
