Campus Community Mourns
The discovery was made at Horticulture Park on Wednesday. The popular campus green space, typically used for relaxation and study, has become a site of mourning for the university community.
Purdue officials confirmed the death in a statement, extending condolences to Haraway’s family and friends and asking for privacy. They have assured the community there is no ongoing safety threat related to the incident.
University Mobilizes Support Services
In response to the tragedy, the university is directing students and staff to available support resources. Purdue’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has been emphasized as a key resource for those affected by the loss.
“This is a profoundly difficult time for our community,” a university spokesperson stated. “We encourage everyone to lean on one another and to seek support through the many mental health resources available on campus.”
The incident has prompted reflection across campus about mental well-being. Student groups and campus organizations are promoting unity and dialogue to foster a supportive environment.
Purdue University stated it remains committed to providing a compassionate and supportive network for all students and staff as the community grieves this loss.
