Suspect in Berea homicide found dead after police pursuit on I-75
BEREA, Ky. – A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Berea was found dead in his vehicle following a police pursuit on Interstate 75 in Whitley County on Sunday, according to authorities.

The Homicide Victim

The incident began when the Madison County Coroner’s Office responded to a home on Leslie Drive in Berea on Saturday night. There, they discovered the body of 77-year-old Margie Berry. Her official cause of death has not been released.

The Pursuit and Discovery

On Sunday morning, Kentucky State Police alerted Williamsburg Police to be on the lookout for a vehicle connected to the homicide. Williamsburg Assistant Police Chief Brandon White spotted the car heading north on I-75 near Williamsburg around 10 a.m.

White initiated a traffic stop, activating his lights and sirens. According to his account, the vehicle pulled onto the shoulder, continued into a grassy area, and then rolled into a rock wall before stopping.

Officers gave commands but received no response from the driver. A police drone was deployed to view the interior, after which officers safely approached the vehicle.

Suspect Identified

Inside, they found the driver deceased. Authorities have identified the driver as Kevin Berry. Berea Police confirmed that Kevin Berry was the son of the homicide victim, Margie Berry.

The circumstances of Kevin Berry’s death are under investigation. The pursuit and discovery bring a grim end to the search for the suspect in the Berea homicide case.
