The Chattanooga, Tennessee community is mourning the unexpected passing of Dr. Dugald McMillan, a highly regarded endodontist whose dedication to dentistry, patient care, and family left a lasting imprint on all who knew him. A second-generation dentist, Dr. McMillan carried forward a family legacy rooted in service and excellence. Raised in Woodland, Alabama, he discovered his passion for dentistry early in life, inspired by his father’s commitment to caring for others. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montevallo in 2005 before completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2009.
Dr. McMillan began his career in general dentistry in New Hope, Alabama, serving a community with limited access to quality dental care. Over time, his growing interest in advanced dental treatment led him to specialize in endodontics. He returned to UAB for postgraduate training, earning his Certificate in Endodontics in 2021 and serving as chief resident during his residency—an honor that reflected his leadership and clinical excellence.
As the founder of Chattanooga Endodontics, Dr. McMillan was known for blending cutting-edge technology with a deeply personal approach to care. He believed in conservative treatment, clear communication, and ensuring patients felt informed and at ease. His practice featured advanced tools such as high-powered microscopes and patient-centered comforts designed to reduce anxiety.
