A hospital security guard critically injured during a Christmas Day incident in Wyoming, Minnesota, has died, authorities confirmed in an update released by the Wyoming Police Department.
Andrea Merrell, 43, of North Branch, succumbed to injuries she sustained during an incident that occurred on December 25, 2025, at M Health Fairview Lakes Medical Center. Police did not immediately release details about the nature of the incident but described it as a tragic event that has deeply affected the hospital community.
Investigators identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jonathan Winch of Chisago City. He is currently being held at the Chisago County Jail as the investigation continues. No additional charges or court dates have been publicly disclosed at this time.
In a statement, the Wyoming Police Department extended heartfelt condolences to Merrell’s family, loved ones, and coworkers, as well as hospital staff impacted by the loss. Officials described Merrell as a dedicated employee whose death has left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside her.
