BRISBANE, Australia — The close-knit communities of Brisbane Grammar School and St Peters Lutheran College are mourning the tragic loss of student Rylan Pribadi, who died in a skiing accident on Wednesday, January 7, while overseas in Niseko, Japan.
Brisbane Grammar School confirmed the news with “heavy hearts,” announcing the passing of “Old Boy Rylan Pribadi ’25.” In a statement, the school noted that Rylan died while doing what he loved most, a sentiment echoed by friends and staff as tributes pour in.
A Respected Boarder, Leader, and Champion Athlete
Rylan joined Brisbane Grammar School as a boarder in 2022 and quickly became a valued member of the community. Known for his warm personality and approachability, he formed strong bonds with peers and staff.
In 2025, Rylan distinguished himself both on and off the field. He was a key member of the school’s Premiership-winning First XI football team and served with distinction as a Boarding Prefect, reflecting his leadership, reliability, and commitment to others.
“Rylan was friendly, dependable, and deeply committed to those around him,” the school’s statement read. “Our school community mourns the loss of a bright and valued member of the BGS family.”
A Community United in Grief
The school extended its deepest condolences to Rylan’s parents, Reza and Jacky, his two sisters, and his extended family and friends. St Peters Lutheran College also joined in expressing sorrow and support for the grieving family and the wider school network.
