Richmond police have identified the victim in a deadly shooting on Spotsylvania Street as 20-year-old Dameon Felix of Richmond. The incident, which occurred late Sunday night, has launched an active homicide investigation as detectives work to piece together what led to the young man’s death.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Spotsylvania Street at approximately 11:56 p.m. on December 21 after the city’s gunshot detection system alerted police to possible gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they found Felix lying on the ground suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Despite emergency response efforts, Felix was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death as part of the ongoing investigation.
