SAN ANTONIO — A confrontation over loud noise escalated into a deadly shooting early Sunday morning on the city’s West Side, leaving one man dead and another under arrest, according to San Antonio police.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Cincinnati Avenue near Fredericksburg Road around 5:15 a.m. on December 21. Investigators said the incident began when Paul Flores went to a nearby residence to complain about excessive noise. What started as a verbal exchange in the front yard quickly intensified and turned physical, eventually spilling into the street.
Police said the argument escalated rapidly, and during the confrontation, Flores allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at another man. The victim was struck several times and collapsed at the scene.
First responders arrived to find the man suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Officers provided emergency aid until paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he later died despite life-saving efforts. No other injuries were reported.
The victim was later identified by family members as Edward Trejo. Loved ones described Trejo as a kind and joyful person whose laughter and compassion left a strong impression on those around him. In the wake of his death, a GoFundMe fundraiser was created to help support his family and cover related expenses.
Flores was taken into custody, and police said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal shooting.
The incident has shaken the neighborhood, raising renewed concerns about how quickly everyday disputes can turn violent. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact San Antonio police as the case continues.
