The Mobile community is mourning the loss of 81-year-old Charles Edward, who tragically passed away following a physical altercation on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Authorities report that around 1:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to 2311 St. Stephens Road in response to an assault call. Upon arrival, Edward was found unresponsive and was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators revealed that the incident occurred after a confrontation between Edward and 60-year-old Sammy Tate in the parking lot. Tate was arrested and taken to Metro Jail, with charges related to the altercation pending further investigation.
