ELYRIA, Ohio – A Northeast Ohio community is heartbroken following the unexpected death of a beloved third-grade student.

Brian Gael Correa, a student at Hamilton Elementary School in Elyria, passed away over the weekend following a brief illness, according to Elyria City Schools.

Remembering a Cherished Student

The school district shared the devastating news on social media, describing Brian as a cherished student. His teacher at Hamilton Elementary remembered him as “kind, loving, intelligent, and humble.”

He was an active member of his school’s football team and enjoyed playing Xbox. Brian had attended Elyria City Schools since preschool, beginning his education at the Early Childhood Village and continuing to flourish at Hamilton Elementary since kindergarten.

School Support and Family Assistance

The Lorain County Crisis Team was present at Hamilton Elementary on Monday to support students and staff as they process their grief.

“The staff at Hamilton are deeply affected by Brian’s loss,” the school district stated.

To assist Brian’s immediate family, they have established a GoFundMe account. The Elyria City Schools extended its deepest condolences to his family, holding them close in thoughts and prayers.

Funeral arrangements for Brian Gael Correa have been made through Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists.
