Lorain Mourns Loss of Pillar of Community, Joseph
LORAIN, Ohio — The Lorain community is mourning the loss of Joseph “Joe” Corrao, a beloved husband, son, brother, and steadfast supporter of youth sports who passed away on December 14, 2025, at the age of 69.

Corrao, born June 5, 1956, was remembered by family and friends as a man of gentle strength and immense generosity whose life was defined by family, faith, and service to his community. He was known for his quiet kindness and his unwavering commitment to supporting the next generation, particularly through his passionate involvement with the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball Association.

“His presence and generosity enriched many lives throughout Lorain and the surrounding communities,” a family spokesperson said. “He believed deeply in youth development and the positive impact of sports.”

A Legacy of Family and Community

Joe’s devotion was first and foremost to his family. He is survived by his wife and partner of many years, Annette Corrao; his parents, Dena and Joseph J. Corrao; and his three sisters, Diane Flock, Angela Corrao, and Janet Jasinski. He was also a cherished uncle and cousin to a large extended family.

Those close to him say his character was shaped by the values of his grandparents—faith, kindness, and community—which he carried throughout his life, strengthening bonds through shared traditions and countless memories.

Honoring His Memory

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made in Joe’s honor to the Sheffield‑Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball Association, continuing his legacy of supporting young athletes in the community he loved.

Friends and community members will have the opportunity to pay their respects at a public visitation on Sunday, December 21, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Reidy Scanlan Giovannazzo Funeral Home in Lorain. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 22, at 10:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Peter in Lorain.
